ArcelorMittal Tubarão, a member of Arcelor Group, being active in the steel market in both domestic and international marketplaces, through the production of steel semifinished and rolled items - materials showing advantages due to their wide range of applications destined to improve human life quality, by its environmental performance, and superior recycling capacity.
Among its values the respect to environment and the sustainable development, and its strategy considers technological development stakeholders expectations, and the search for upgrades that reduce impacts of the Company action, cooperating towards a sustainable society. Its Environmental Management System -EMS, certified per ISO 14001, follows this strategy. All ArcelorMittal Tubarão people, the Board of Directors, Managers, and Employees, take the following commitments:
- To develop actions ensuring compliance with legislation and other commitments subscribed by the Company
- To search for continuous improvement and of pollution prevention
- To maintain an open dialogue with stakeholders, anticipating and complying to their manifestation on environmental aspects
- To promote educational initiatives to value environmental awareness in the community
- To develop environmental education actions, motivating its employees and employees from partner companies to execute their activities in a disciplined way, with environmental responsibility, and so as to avoid possible impacts
- To follow adequate managerial practices to efficiently use natural resources and energy, to reduce air emissions, water effluents, and generation of waste, and to promote recycling and sales of co-products
- To evaluate environmental aspects and impacts resulting from its activities, products and services previously, including new units or improvements on existent ones
- To identify, to report and to treat anomalies possibly causing environmental impact
- To disseminate among vendors, service suppliers, units led by third parties in the Company facilities, and clients of co-products the principles, procedures, and requirements pertinent to EMS to be met.
- To establish environmental objectives and targets associated to the significant environmental aspects.
