Coils

ArcelorMittal Tubarão Quality Control for Coils is ensured by the production process monitoring systems and by the quality inspections carried out in the intermediary and finishing lines.

Monitoring Systems

ArcelorMittal Tubarão Hot Strip Mill is one of the most modern in the world and includes state of the art monitoring systems composed of specific equipment, process computers and software, which continuously manage each step of the production. As a result, it is possible to know all quality events that compromise the quality of the final product and act preventively to correct deviations.

Quality Inspections

During coil production process, a Quality Inspection Technician carries out inspections in several coils at the exit of the coiler so as to identify possible problems and give feedback to the rolling mill operation. This makes it also possible to identify coils that have problems and which shall be sent to the finishing lines for the removal of the problems found.

Every coil processed in the finishing lines is inspected to ensure the surface quality, the dimensions and shapes required by the customer. In this step, samples of the product are taken to be sent to the Mechanical Test Lab, where several tests take place to assess the compliance with the mechanical properties specified by international regulations.
